In the grand family library of House Udina there is an eclectic selection of beautiful leather bound tomes from all over the known world. With the time you have invested in its opulent study rooms, you have managed to piece together a fundamental understanding of world history...

Excerpt from the "Chronicle of Arven", by scholar Frederimo Lother of Dorthodor, 6th Age:

"Arven is the High Elven word for the 'Waking World' and the name of our Continent. Even the word 'Arvenui', that scholars have used to describe elves of the first age, literally translates as "Those of the Waking World" (and as such could in truth be applied to any living creature in Arven). It is academic convention that the Elves that chose to stay on Arven in that First Age are the 'Arvenui', whilst those eternal High Elves of the mystic isle of Aellyria are the 'Eldar'..."

Excerpt from "Liber IX", by the mystic Merasmus, 7th Age:

"As I understand it, the continent of Arven is one single, gigantic land mass that no one has ever been able to map in it's entirety. It is segmented into large areas (that I call 'plateaus') by a series of anomalies such as vast mountain ranges, impenetrable forests, or impassable wastes--more often than not laced with treacherous currents of mystical energies. I assume there are give or take eight such 'plateaus' on the continent, the largest of them being the North-Western coast of Ethir and Valera, the Eastern lands of Slavers' Spire and the Castus Imperium, and, of course, the Uncharted Territories--the most unfortunate waste of fertile land the world has ever seen..."

Excerpt from the personal notes of Grand Diplomat Sheev of House Udina:

"The outside world seems to have always considered this Land barred from civilization. However, even under the curse of the Lich Lord of Kaidernam our ancient peoples have persisted... We have survived drought, plague, and beast, and we have kept memory alive. Memory of an Ancient Empire, a united realm under the Eagle banner of Gutenbeere. We have kept trade and culture and ritual alive in our settlements (with the grace of the cult of Paletius, of course) and others have followed in our example: the Sillics, the Tyrols, the Darna, all have kept faith that the prophecy would be fulfilled and that the curse would be lifted. Others were not so fortunate; formerly reputable clans (such as the Hal or the Jurna) have degenerated over the centuries into little more than mindless pillagers and barbarians. We have kept the fath and our faith (for better or worse) has now been rewarded. Who knows what the future holds for us now? The Triumvirate have unwittingly started a rat race; they have freed up the largest piece of uncolonized territory in the entire world..."

Udina Library; World History & Geography Empty The Tyrol Monarchy

Post by Gamemaster Mon Nov 21, 2016 5:40 pm

Excerpt form "Liber Segundus", by venerable Golgund, 7th Age:

"There are few places in the Uncharted Territories more densely populated than the valley of Tyr. In the blessed year of our Lord Paletius 1016, the valley counted more than five tribes of a combined 23.000 inhabitants. Those unfortunate peoples have had the incredible misfortune to be ruled by the Tyrol bloodline for over 300 years. A family of tyrants and sorcerers to the very last man, I do swear. The new King of the City of Tyr is Edamion Tyrol, a young man that has already proven himself to be a fiend; through guile and intimidation he has managed to have a law passed that dictates that he is the sole judge of which criminal in the kingdom is considered to be a traitor to the state. Consider that in the Tyrol Monarchy, traitors to the Crown are executed forthwith, and so are their first and second degree relatives. In the very first month of his reign more than 13 noble families were framed and entirely extinguished. In my opinion, any hope for Tyr to become an emancipated republic was lost at that precise moment. Edamion is also said to be a witch-king who conspires with dark forces. I have no proof to back that statement, but I would not hold it below him."
